Why?

Drowning in Desire marks an important time where EJ pivots to being a full time creative. Part of that journey is building his talents as an artist.

EJ is a self-taught artist primarily learning from his good friends, Ryan and Bryan

His first large scale painting was a B&W rendition of Picasso's Guernica for his classroom in 2014.

During his time as an educator, he painted several portraits for his high school classroom including Winona Ryder, Malcolm X, and Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams to complete his classroom's aesthetic.

EJ gifted two paintings, Natalie Portman and Jessica Chastain, to his good friend, Long, who was in the beginning phases of opening Ronin Barber in Late 2014

With newfound time on his hands, EJ gifted a rendition of a Vicente Romero painting during the early stages of the 2020 pandemic to Long.

These paintings soon became a staple to Ronin Barber's aesthetic and he hopes to continue to rotate various paintings in the future.

EJ is eager and available to take digital or physical commissions! Please contact him at ej@djsandok.com.

Special thank you to Bryan for helping me grow as an artist every step of the way in the years we've known each other, Ryan for having the meticulous eye for detail in all-things-design, Sean for coining the name, "Drowning in Desire," Tree+Donna for letting me use your garage as my studio, and lastly, Long for providing the venue space to showcase my art for the past 8+ years.
